The UD-3900C4 uses DisplayLink technology for HDMI 1 and HDMI 2, so you need DisplayLink software on Windows and macOS for these outputs to work. On Windows, the required driver will typically install automatically through Windows Update, while macOS requires the DisplayLink Manager application. ChromeOS 100 or later does not require a separate DisplayLink driver installation.

On Windows 10 and Windows 11, the DisplayLink driver typically installs automatically through Windows Update when you connect the dock.

On macOS, install and configure the DisplayLink Manager application. DisplayLink Manager is required for displays connected to HDMI 1 and HDMI 2.

On ChromeOS 100 or later, you don't need to download a separate DisplayLink driver.

HDMI 3 and HDMI 4 use the host computer's native DisplayPort video capabilities and do not rely on DisplayLink software.

macOS does not support DisplayPort Multi-Stream Transport (MST). As a result, displays connected to HDMI 3 and HDMI 4 cannot operate as two separate extended displays on a Mac.

What Can I Do if My Work Computer Restricts Software Downloads?

If your organization restricts software downloads or installations, you may need approval from your IT administrator before installing DisplayLink software.

Contact your IT department and provide them with the DisplayLink software page:

If company policy permits the software, your IT administrator can approve or install it on your behalf.
